4th Biennial International Symposium Abstract Submission Guidelines


We welcome a wide range of practice and policy topics related to the theme. Topics may include but are not limited to: women’s health and mental health, women’s physical and psychological health, gender and global health disparities, ethics of global health research and practice, psychosocial dimension to women’s health disparities, health and social service disparities, health disparities and economic participation, policies and politics of disparity in women’s health care, international social work, healthcare across international settings, and innovative approaches to reducing health disparities and promoting the well-being of women.

Types of submissions:

We welcome all types of scholarly submissions that explore and develop the theme. These include, but are not limited to: empirical papers, program evaluations, systematic reviews, theoretical papers, best practice guidelines, research on teaching and learning, and descriptions of innovative programs or interventions.

Abstract structure:

Any format will be considered, including the standard empirical paper format of Introduction/ Methods/ Results/ Discussion. Abstracts will be assessed based on scholarly merit, clarity, and relevance to theme.

Oral presentations:

Oral presentations will be 15-20 minutes in length.


Final decisions will be made by the abstract reviewers and the planning committee. First authors on accepted abstracts will be notified by August 31, 2015. If you require a letter of acceptance from the University of Illinois for VISA purposes, please send an email request to the planning committee.
