PhD Application Process
Applicants that have never completed a University of Illinois Graduate College application can apply by completing the Graduate College at the web address below
http://www.grad.illinois.edu/admissions/apply
If you have a graduate degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and would like to apply to PhD MSW/PhD program then you would NOT complete another Graduate College application; you will need to follow the process below and email the items to socialwork@illinois.edu. Please identify these items by labeling email as “PhD Application Materials”.

Transcripts from all educational institutions

Are you interested in applying to the MSW/PhD program?
The MSW/PhD program is a joint degree program that is available to students that already possess a Master’s degree in another discipline but would now like to obtain both a MSW degree and a PhD degree in Social Work.

Students applying to this program would also need to complete an additional statement indicating why they are interested in applying to the Joint MSW/PhD program. This additional statement would need to be uploaded to the Graduate College Application in the “additional program questions” area.
In order for your application to be complete you will need to have all official transcripts mailed to the School of Social Work at 1010 W. Nevada, Urbana IL 61801 even though the Graduate College application indicates that they only require copies of transcripts to be uploaded to their application.
