Dr. Douglas Smith Releases New Book
Douglas C. Smith has released a new book titled, Emerging Adults and Substance Use Disorder Treatment- Developmental Considerations and Innovative Approaches.
This book addresses how a societal shift in the timing of developmental tasks affects treatment outcomes for substance use disorders, which are among the most highly prevalent and costly mental health problems in the United States. It presents readers with a summary of the developmental period of emerging adulthood as well as a comprehensive review of state-of-the-art substance use disorder treatments for this group.
Dr. Smith has worked in the substance use field for 20 years as a clinician, clinical supervisor, and researcher. He has published numerous scientific articles and his research has been funded by the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and the US Department of Justice.
