Michele Gallardo graduated from the University of Illinois in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology. Fulfilling her goal of becoming a social worker, Michele obtained her MSW in 2003, from the University of Illinois School of Social Work. Michele was formerly a school social worker in the south suburbs of Chicago for over 12 years. During that time, she was afforded the opportunity to work in diverse school settings, which allowed her to gain experience working with students and families who were comprised of various backgrounds and unique situations. In addition to being a school social worker, she coached Special Olympics basketball and track teams for 7 years. Michele is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and holds a Type 73 certificate.
Michele joined the School’s Field Education team in 2016. Her primary role is focused on working with MSW students concentrating on school social work. She is responsible for assisting the students in obtaining their field placements, as well as, educating them both inside and outside of the classroom while completing their internships.
