Join us for the 27th Annual Daniel S. Sanders Peace and Social Justice Lecture
April 5, 2018 from 5-6 p.m.
Levis Faculty Center, Room 300
919 W. Illinois Street, Urbana IL
Reception to follow
Andi and Al Tauber have been playing music together in a variety of contexts for over 30 years. Nearly half of that time has been devoted to developing and performing “Stories from the Streets” for Emmaus Ministries, a small faith-based organization working with men in survival prostitution in Chicago.
Through monologues and songs based on interviews and personal experience, Andi and Al tell the stories of these men, often in their own words. They open a window into the lives of men that few in our society even know exist, allowing us to better understand them; to see them as human.
For this lecture, they will be presenting examples of their work (music and monologue), and talking about their process, goals, and results.
(Al Tauber is a native of Champaign, IL and an alum of Centennial High School.)
This event is free and open to the public.
