Social Work Group Named 1 of 12 New Startups Through iVenture Accelerator

iVenture, a start-up accelerator for University of Illinois students, is a year-long program that gives student startups up to $10,000 in funding. Starting with an intensive summer session, students get access to mentors, workspace, connections to venture capital firms in central Illinois, and a $2,500 stipend to offset expenses for the summer.

This year, 125 students representing 44 startups applied for iVenture. 12 startups were selected for the program, and the 35 students participating represent 28 different majors and minors, and seven colleges across the university. The Inclusive Companion Series, started by Illinois Social Work students, helps facilitate meaningful parent-child discussions about tough topics by publishing companion guides for popular children’s books.
