Social Work Homecoming 2016

Join us for the following Homecoming 2016 festivities on Friday, October 28, 2016:

  • CEU Workshop:
Maternal Mental Health and Associated Disparities
    (3 CEU’s)
    School of Social Work
    1010 W. Nevada St., Room 2015
    Urbana, IL 61801

Maternal mental health problems are common and affect 12-20% of women during pregnancy and the postpartum period, yet many women will not receive proper care. When identified, maternal disorders such as depression are highly treatable, especially when detected early. This workshop will introduce maternal mental health disorders and will describe disparities in maternal mental health by race, ethnicity, and income. Additionally, the workshop will provide participants with validated strategies for detecting depression, anxiety, and panic symptoms among pregnant and postpartum women.

Speaker: Karen Tabb, PhD, MSW
