This presentation will focus on thinking outside of the box as a school social worker, Catherine’s path from starting as a school social worker to becoming a district-wide social emotional learning specialist/behavior manager, and utilizing social work skills to broaden our impact to enhance the future for children, adults and families through social emotional learning.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the role of social work skills and principles in the context of educational leadership/administration
  2. Reflect on personal growth, professional development, and the broader impact on wellbeing of students and community
  3. Develop leadership competencies and skills within tier 1 social emotional learning for students and adults

Recognized as a CASEL Fellow in 2021, Catherine draws upon her extensive background as a school social worker, building-level administrator, and now district-office leader to amplify student voices and facilitate holistic learning experiences for all members of her current educational community.
