Exploring Immigration Through Art & Dialogue, April 18

The University of Illinois School of Social Work Community Learning Lab and Krannert Center for the Performing Arts continue their collaborative series exploring the intersection of social work and the arts with a special event featuring Plumas Negras.

This magical realist play, inspired by stories from the Latina community of East Salinas, California, follows three generations of women navigating change, resilience, and the power of maternal love. Through magic, dreams, and deeply personal struggles, Plumas Negras offers a profound reflection on the immigration experience.

A select group of Latina immigrants, young women, and community members will be invited to participate in an intimate pre-show dialogue with the director and designers, creating space for conversation, connection, and shared experiences.

Performance Date: Friday, April 18, 2025
Pre-Performance Community Dialogue: 6:15–7:15 PM (The Krannert Room)
Showtime: 7:30 PM – 10:00 PM
