Apoorva Nag, a PhD student at Illinois Social Work, has been awarded a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) Doctoral Student Policy Fellowship for the 2024-2025 academic year. This highly competitive fellowship recognizes emerging scholars who are dedicated to advancing social policy through research, advocacy, and legislative engagement.
As a fellow, Apoorva will gain hands-on experience in social policy work through congressional offices, collaborate with the CSWE government relations team at Lewis-Burke, and engage with federal agencies and advocacy groups. This program provides a unique opportunity for doctoral fellows to bridge the gap between research and policy, demonstrating how their expertise can inform decision-making at the highest levels of government. Fellows will also help promote the significance of investments in social work and social work research on Capitol Hill, while cultivating a network of scholars prepared to advocate for these crucial issues within their communities of practice.
This prestigious opportunity will allow Apoorva to contribute to shaping the future of social work policy and practice while deepening her expertise in legislative and advocacy efforts that impact communities nationwide.
