Celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2026

In celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a variety of events will be taking place around campus and the community. We invite you to check out some of these events, which are done in collaboration with the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Sunday, January 18
MLK Advocacy for Justice Countywide Celebration

Join the community as they come together at the Krannert Center to honor the life, legacy, and vision of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the annual Champaign County MLK Celebration. This special event is a time for reflection, unity, and recommitment to service and justice.

Monday, January 19
Martin Luther King Jr. Annual Unity Breakfast

Come join the Champaign and Urbana communities to celebrate the academic accomplishments of local high school students who are the 2026 Fulfilling the Dream: MLK Scholarship Recipients. At this event the scholarship recipients will share their goals for the future. Musical guest, Minister Noah I. Brown. The community breakfast will begin after the program.

Wednesday, January 21
MLK Lecture – From Dream to Action: The Work of Radical Hope

The annual MLK Lecture is a thoughtful discussion about the teachings and perspectives of Dr. King. The 2026 MLK theme is From Dream to Action: The Work of Radical Hope.

MLK Champions
