Field Education
Where Education Meets Practice
The internship is the foundation of social work education, offering immersive, hands-on learning experiences in a professional setting.
Placement Models
For the campus BSW and MSW programs, the block placement model allows you to fully dedicate yourself to a full-time internship after completing all coursework. This approach enables you to apply classroom knowledge and skills directly to real-world social work practice.
In the iBSW program, students follow a concurrent placement model, completing courses alongside their internship over two semesters.
Support for Your Success
Understanding the critical role of the internship, we provide a dedicated Field Education team of clinical faculty with real-world social work experience. A faculty liaison will help you secure a placement tailored to your learning needs and interests while offering guidance throughout the internship.
Additionally, you’ll participate in a concurrent integrative seminar course led by faculty specializing in field education. This robust support system equips you with the confidence, skills, and insight to thrive in your social work career.

BSW Field Placement
The internship provides hands-on experience in practicing generalist social work, working with individuals, families, and communities at diverse sites serving various populations.

MSW Field Placement
This immersive experience will provide you with the skills and knowledge needed to confidently advance to the next stage of your career.
