Education

Brandie Bentley earned her MSW from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and previously earned a BSW from Eastern Michigan University.

Research

Brandie Bentley conducts research to address maternal and child health inequities, specifically focusing on the experiences of people with disabilities. Through her research, she explores the complex intersection of race and disability and seeks to understand how policies and practices influence outcomes for disabled communities of color. Brandie is a Birth Equity Research Scholar with the National Birth Equity Collaborative, is a Full-Spectrum Doula, and an active partner with community-led initiatives promoting systems-level change to support the health and wellbeing of local families. Within her teaching, Brandie engages BSW and MSW level students in thinking critically about the connections between policy, research, and practice and our role as Social Workers across systems.
