What I Do

Having spent several years in clinical practice and as a clinical supervisor, I am now semi-retired. I have thoroughly enjoyed a career in the field, with experience in hospital, child welfare, adoption
and counseling in several settings. After 28+ years of practice, I am utilizing my experience to enhance my teaching of the next generations of social workers.

Education

Nancy graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign’s School of Social Work with her MSW in the mental health concentration in 1992. Her first position after graduation was at a hospital in Rockford, Illinois, where she worked in the physical rehabilitation unit and served as the social worker on the traumatic brain injury team. Nancy moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1994, where she provided counseling services to clients and managed a team of therapists for over 11 years. During that time, Nancy also worked in the adoption field part-time for seven years. In 2001, Nancy published a collection of short stories for young readers that focused on the topics of diversity, illness, foster care and safety. She returned to Illinois in 2006, and worked in a local social service agency providing counseling services to adults, children and families who were involved in the foster care system. Over her career, Nancy worked with diverse populations and ages, and has worked in many settings including office, home, hospital and shelter.
