Research

Soonhyung Kwon focuses on identifying the feasibility, acceptability, and effectiveness of technology-based interventions (e.g., web-based intervention, smartphone app intervention, virtual reality [VR] software/device-based intervention) for physical (e.g., cardiovascular health, physical function) and negative mental health/positive psychiatric domains of older adults in the United States and South Korea. His dissertation explores how U.S. Korean older adults perceive anti-Asian racism during the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, it investigates the feasibility, acceptability, safety, and initial efficacy of a culturally tailored mindfulness intervention using VR in U.S. Korean older adults with high levels of perceived discrimination.
