Julie Munoz-Najar obtained her master’s degree in social work from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2008 and her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Illinois State University in 2004. Before she started at the school, her background has been quite varied with most of her experiences related to macro level start-up projects on autism and community nutrition where she engaged with individuals, families, communities and other government stakeholders. Other areas of expertise are in infant and maternal mental health, military veterans, community planning, health care policy and developmental disabilities. Most recently, Julie has been exploring the role social workers have in the intersection of emerging-tech, ethical design and implementation using a social justice lens to consider the future of the profession beyond traditional practice methods.
In her primary role, as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the UIUC Field office, she serves as a pre-field seminar instructor and field liaison for aspiring BSW students as they prepare for and enter their block-placement before graduation.Back to Faculty & Staff Directory
