Land of Lincoln Legal Aid, Inc. is seeking case workers in its Client Support Services Program. One position is
open in each of the five regional offices (Alton, Carbondale, Champaign, East St. Louis and Springfield). The
position is dedicated to preventing homelessness and ensuring safety and stability of Illinoisans during the
pandemic. Land of Lincoln Legal Aid provides free civil legal services to low-income individuals in 65 counties in
Illinois. We are committed to working for justice with those whose voices might otherwise not be heard; to
empower individuals to advocate for themselves; and to make positive changes in the communities we serve. Our
attorneys provide holistic legal advocacy in partnership with community organizations, social service agencies, and
faith-based groups.
The case worker will work in an interdisciplinary manner with attorneys to provide case management services to
housing clients. The case worker is supervised by a Managing Attorney and receive training and support from
within the Client Support Services Program. The position also requires active participation in regular staff
meetings, housing task force meetings and program development activities as needed.
Responsibilities include:
• Conduct interviews with clients to assess services needed and impact provided.
• Work with attorneys to develop appropriate strategies and case management for clients
• Work with clients to utilize all available resources to try and achieve successful outcomes in their case
• Attend court proceedings to stay informed of case status and to assist attorneys and clients as needed
• Research social service issues impacting clients as needed
• Build relationships with community partners and actively participate in outreach and education
• Make appropriate referrals to outside agencies and coordinate with agencies to ensure client stability
• Maintain regional community resource library
• Participate in weekly Client Support Service meetings with other Case Workers and share resources and
knowledge across regional offices
• Other duties as assigned
