Hours: 20 hours/week, school year schedule

Bilingual Spanish preferred but not required

Summary:

The Family Outreach Worker (FOW) is responsible for developing a trusting relationship with Head Start parents as a support and resource person. This person reinforces the crucial role of parents as the primary educator of their children through coordination with the classroom and ensures all health, enrollment and other identified individualized needs of children and their families are met. This person assumes a lead role in implementing social service coordination by providing ongoing comprehensive support and case management services to assigned families that promote Family Wellbeing, Parent/Child Relationships, Families as Lifelong Educators, Families as Learners, Family Engagement in Transitions, Family Connections to Peers and Community, and Families as Advocates and Leaders. Practice with families and colleagues is informed using Head Start Relationship-Based Competencies, a Trauma Informed approach and Reach Dane Core Values.

Qualifications:

Preferred Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related Human Service field with minimum of 1 year experience working with low-income, multicultural families

Required minimum High School Diploma and completion of Family Service Credential within eighteen months of hire
