Investigator/Case Worker:  Adult Protective Services

CRIS Healthy Aging Center has been in existence for over 40 years; with the primary goal of assisting older adults and adults with disabilities to live full and active lives.  The Adult Protective Services Team is looking to add another valuable member to its team.  If you are interested in assisting adults with disabilities (18-59) and older adults who have been victims of abuse, neglect or exploitation than a job with the CRIS Adult Protective Service Team may be for you.

The Adult Protective Services Team receives reports of abuse, neglect and/or financial exploitation and completes an accurate and detailed intake, conducts investigations of abuse, neglect and/or financial exploitation with the specified period as set forth by the Illinois Department on Aging (IDoA) standards and procedures.

In order to succeed on this Adult Protective Services Team you will need to perform some essential functions and duties:

-Enjoy working both independently and with a team

– Comply fully with all APS regulations and program plan requirements, which include initiating investigations, providing casework and follow-up all within the timeframes set forth by IDoA

-Negotiate difficult family situation using a variety of interview/assessment skills

-Work closely with the Supervisor and Associate Supervisor to address complex case issues; and make informed decision regarding abuse, neglect and exploitation

-Participate in staff meeting and multiple disciplinary meetings as necessary, offering constructive input

-Be able to maintain client confidentiality

-Successfully interact with community and legal resources

COVID-19 consideration:  PPE is provided; office space is maintained 6 feet apart

Educational qualifications:

Candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in social services, social work, health care administration, gerontology, or criminal justice, and have one year of experience in health or human services. Master’s degree preferred. Travel and dependable transportation required.
