Job description
The Coordinator - Youth Assessment Center will be responsible for the oversight, supervision, and overall coordination of RPC’s Youth Assessment Center (YAC) whose goal is to divert youth from juvenile justice system involvement. This position will work with the Community Services Assistant Director to design and implement high quality programming based on research that is responsive to the needs of youth and families in Champaign County. The position will provide oversight and overall coordination of contracts, and grants in compliance with all relevant State, Federal, and local provisions; participate in the selection, interview, hiring, and orientation process of new employees; building and maintaining collaborative partnerships with Champaign County Court Services staff, law enforcement, community agencies, schools, funders, referral sources, agency procured contractors, etc. The Coordinator – Youth Assessment Center is responsible for the administration of program activities, including assigning tasks, monitoring direct client centered services provided by social services staff, as well as management and upkeep of confidential client and program data.
Bachelor’s degree in human or social services or related field and a minimum of three years of direct client service experience or a combination of education and experience in the field may be considered. Master’s degree preferred.
- Strong background in customer services and human services.
- Skills in supervision, assessment, training, and program evaluation.
- Knowledge of domestic violence influence, factors, and treatment options.
- Knowledge of systems of care, motivational interviewing, restorative justice, and trauma-informed care principles.
- Ability to pass criminal background check.
- Valid driver’s license, safe and reliable vehicle and the ability to visit sites throughout Champaign County as well as transport clients on occasion.
- Ability to attend community meetings and interpret information presented and shared amongst participants, provide program information at community meetings, provide formal program presentations, and collect and share relevant meeting information with team. Ability to develop and implement processes for program service delivery.
- Ability to learn the use of web-based systems.
- Ability to prioritize and handle emergency or crisis situations.
- Effective management, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills to forge positive relationships with clients, co-workers, colleagues and community members, stakeholders and funders, and to provide supervision to subordinate staff.
- Highly proficient data entry and computer skills and the ability to use and manage computer files, use databases, create spreadsheets, and prepare presentations.
- Aptitude to become proficient with proprietary database operations and demonstrate functional proficiency in use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Excellent listening skills, presentation, and public speaking skills and the ability to share information effectively.
- Strong writing skills to compose documents, reports and correspondence.
- Proficient in English (spelling, punctuation, grammar).
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate program needs including periodic early mornings, evenings, nights, and weekends.
- Preference for individuals that are knowledgeable of resources, services, and activities for youth and families at risk of involvement with the juvenile justice system in Champaign County
