2017-18 Student Diversity Committee Accepting New Members
BSW, MSW, and PhD Students:
With the beginning of each academic year, many exciting opportunities arise for students to become involved at the School of Social Work.
You are cordially invited to serve on the 2017-18 Diversity Committee. The committee is seeking members who are committed to creating an inclusive atmosphere and foster the value of a diverse community.
The Diversity Committee is comprised of faculty as well as BSW, MSW, and PhD students. Members of the Diversity Committee are representatives of the student body. In that capacity, they serve to express the needs and suggestions of their peers in order to maintain a welcoming and safe environment for students from all backgrounds.
The Diversity Committee meets once a month to plan brown bag discussions that address topical issues related to social work, suggest topics and support town hall meetings, as well as organize the Annual Diversity Celebration each spring. In addition to coordinating social events, student members are encouraged to share ideas that will contribute to shaping and developing the social work program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Any social work students interested in serving on the Diversity Committee are welcome to attend the first meeting on Friday, September 29th at 12:00pm in Room 2000P to learn more.
The School of Social Work strongly values the opinions and perspectives of its students and endorses the belief that together we can make a difference.
If you are able to attend, please RSVP to Kelsey Barnett.
