Lough Named Director of Social Innovation

Benjamin Lough, associate professor in the School of Social Work, has been named Director of Social Innovation in the Gies College of Business at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

In this position he will help develop strategic vision in this area, as well as implement specific programs and develop new opportunities for students, faculty, and staff. He will provide leadership for social innovation and entrepreneurship within the Disruption and Innovation unit, including the Origin Ventures Academy for Entrepreneurial Leadership and the Disruption Lab, including the ideation, development, oversight, and compliance for new and existing programs. He will also help build and support relationships with other programs and units on campus and in the community around social innovation and entrepreneurship.

This position will be in addition to his ongoing responsibilities in the School of Social Work. Ben has been a leader in developing the LSC component of the MSW program, and also more specifically in developing social innovation and social entrepreneurship content for the School of Social Work and for other students.
