LaShonda Smith

LaShonda Smith, LCSW, received her bachelor’s degree in Sociology in 2010 and her master’s degree in Social Work in 2011, both from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Most of her career was spent as a medical social worker at a Level 1 Trauma facility, primarily working the Emergency Department. LaShonda’s interests are social determinants of health, health disparities, and health inequities. She currently serves on the board of directors for Family Advocacy of Champaign County.

LaShonda joined the Field Education Department as a liaison in 2023.
