Session Information

Join us for a four-part CEU webinar series focused on promoting positive behaviors and cultivating a school-wide climate of change for student success. You may attend any or all sessions, each worth 3.0 CEU’s/PDH. The cost is $30 per session for CEU’s or $10 per session without CEU’s. Please register for each session separately.

Part 1: Assessing Challenging Behaviors with Functional Behavioral Assessments

Throughout this course, participants will develop an in-depth understanding of assessing for challenging behaviors in children using the Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) process. In addition, participants will develop effective strategies for data collection and forming hypothesis statements.

Part 2: Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) for Positive Behaviors & Academic Achievement & Growth

This course moves beyond the development of a FBA and focuses on practical application of a FBA. Throughout this course, participants will utilize functional behavioral assessments (FBAs) to define challenging behaviors, incorporate prevention strategies, teach desired or replacement behaviors, increase the occurrence of desired or replacement behaviors, apply the major components of the behavior intervention plan (BIP), and evaluate the BIP’s effectiveness with data collection and progress monitoring.

Part 3: Evidence-Based Interventions for Challenging Behaviors

Throughout this course, participants will deepen their knowledge of prevention and evidence-based interventions for challenging behaviors. Participants will determine which interventions promote positive behaviors, apply developmentally appropriate behavioral expectations and positive reinforcement for desirable behaviors, as well as apply previous knowledge of the hypothesis statement and function of the behavior to evidence-based interventions.

Part 4: Successful Implementation of Behavioral Interventions

Throughout this course, participants will acquire in-depth knowledge of implementing evidence-based interventions that reinforce new skills and positive behaviors. Additionally, participants will apply their knowledge of evidence-based behavioral interventions to promote effective communication, emotional regulation, and behavioral expectations with success.

Tanika Johnson, EdD, MA, LPC-MHSP, LMHC, NCC, BC-TMH, CCTP, is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Mental Health Service Provider, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, National Certified Counselor, Board-Certified Telemental Health Provider, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, Contributing Faculty Member, Continuing Education Presenter, and Education Consultant.  Dr. Johnson specializes in addiction, trauma, sexual assault, human trafficking, domestic violence, crisis and behavioral health interventions, anxiety, mood disorders, perinatal disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, anger and impulse control, and self-management coaching.  She also has experience with education consulting and serving the special education community and the exceptional needs of children, adolescents, and adults with disabilities.
