This three-part series will explore psychedelics as an emerging field in mental health. Have you wondered how it works, or how you can implement it into your clinical practice? Have clients asked you about certain medicines, but you felt unprepared to answer their questions or where to refer them for answers and treatment? This three part series is an introduction into ketamine, MDMA, and psilocybin that will prepare you to answer these questions and direct you to where you can take your knowledge deeper.

Part 1: Ketamine
April 26, 2024
10:00am – 12:00pm
The presentation will focus on the emerging use of ketamine in a clinical setting for the treatment of mental health disorders such as depression. Participants will gain an understanding of the effects of ketamine, indications and contraindications, as well as considerations for clinical practice.
Part 2: MDMA
May 3, 2024
10:00am – 12:00pm
The presentation will focus on the emerging use of MDMA in a clinical setting for the treatment of mental health disorders such as depression and PTSD. Participants will gain an understanding of the effects of MDMA, indications and contraindications, most recent progress on FDA approval, as well as considerations for clinical practice.
Part 3: Psilocybin
May 10, 2024
10:00am – 12:00pm
The presentation will focus on the emerging use of psilocybin in a clinical setting for the treatment of mental health disorders such as depression and addiction. Participants will gain an understanding of the effects of psilocybin, indications and contraindications, efforts toward legalization, as well as considerations for clinical practice.
Presenter
MICKENSY L. ELLIS-WHITE, LCPC
Mickensy Ellis-White is a graduate of Psychology from the University of Illinois and Community Counseling from Eastern Illinois University. She served as a Behavioral Health Specialist in the US Army Reserves and deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom/New Dawn in 2011. Mickensy currently owns a private practice named Mpower Counseling, PLLC in Danville, IL. She was most recently recognized as Danville’s Best Counselor in 2023. Mickensy specializes in substance use treatment and trauma. She is also a registered yoga teacher. She earned a certification in psychedelics from the Integrative Psychiatry Institute in 2023. She hopes to bring a range of healing modalities and psychoeducation to underserved populations, most notably her fellow Veterans.
