**This training fulfills the Mandated Reporter Training with Implicit Bias requirement for licensure in the state of Illinois**
In this webinar, we will discuss mandated reporting of child abuse and neglect and further explore the impact that implicit bias has on making reports. There are some instances where the decision to contact the child abuse and neglect hotline is a clear decision. However, at other times, we may feel conflicted as to whether to make the call or if there is another way to support the child and family. We will discuss how to make the most appropriate decisions and reflect on how personal history, experiences and culture might influence our perspective of what we are seeing or observing.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the expectations and responsibilities of being a mandated reporter.
- Have a basic understanding of what steps a person needs to take and not take when concerned about abuse or neglect of a child.
- Have a general understanding of the steps that occur after the hotline call is made.
- Understand some steps in evaluating factors related to cultural bias and abuse/neglect.
