Amidst the celebration of Women’s History Month, on March 21, 2024, Governors State University hosted its second annual Women’s History Month Tea to honor women who have made significant strides in advocating for equity, diversity, and inclusion. Sharva Hampton-Campbell, a two-time alum of our program and a 2021 graduate of their higher education doctoral program, was among the distinguished honorees.
Sharva’s journey towards this recognition was paved with dedication, resilience, and a relentless commitment to fostering an inclusive society. Her unwavering advocacy for marginalized voices and tireless efforts in promoting diversity have transformed perspectives and inspired others to join the cause. This is evident in her efforts to improve the learning equity of former foster youth pursuing a college degree where specialized programming has been established at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign School of Social Work and Governors State University.
Governors State University’s acknowledgment of Sharva’s contributions is a testament to her impact on the local and broader community.
