Bill and Julie Kellner Center for Neurogenomics, Behavior and Society

Bill and Julie Kellner

Fostering Interdisciplinary Collaboration

The School of Social Work is thrilled to announce a substantial gift that will strengthen our commitment to collaborative research. The Bill and Julie Kellner Center for Neurogenomics, Behavior, and Society was established today at the Institute for Genomic Biology (IGB). This pioneering center aims to fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, drawing on expertise from genomic biology, social work, neuroscience, and the broader social sciences. It is the first center of its kind in the US, marking a milestone for interdisciplinary research.

The Kellner Center will act as a hub for collaboration on campus, promoting partnerships among researchers from the IGB, the Center for Social and Behavioral Science (CSBS), and the School of Social Work. We are especially excited about the vital role the School will play in the work of the Kellner Center. Our faculty’s research expertise in the areas of health, social innovation, serious mental illness (SMI), and workforce development aligns closely with the Center’s research and educational missions to discover how genetic and environmental factors influence mental health.

This initiative highlights our dedication to innovative and collaborative research and sets a new standard for how academic units can come together to address complex societal issues. Save the Date: November 12, 2024 – Launch of The Kellner Center for Neurogenomics, Behavior, and Society

We are thrilled to announce the official launch of The Kellner Center on November 12 from 8am to noon. This half-day event will bring together interdisciplinary researchers to explore the connections between genomics, behavior, and society.

The Kellner Center seeks to bridge the gap between genomic research and its real-world applications in mental health, social behavior, and public health. The center will provide research insights to enhance evidence-based practices, inform policy, and improve interventions for vulnerable populations.

Please save the date and join us in launching this exciting interdisciplinary initiative. More details to follow.
