Aaron Godwin

Aaron moved to Champaign-Urbana in the Fall of 2014 to pursue graduate education at the School of Music. Aaron is a two-time alumnus of the University of Illinois, having completed a Master of Music degree in May 2016, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in May 2020, both with focuses in vocal performance and literature. Aaron’s doctoral and ongoing research is focused on centering queer theory in the study and production of musical theatre. In addition to his work over the last few years in student affairs as a teacher and advisor, Aaron gained extensive experience working in the School of Music Development and Alumni Relations office during his graduate studies. Additionally, Aaron has taken several classes as an MSW student and is very excited to lend his considerable and varied work experiences to advancing the mission of the School of Social Work.
