What I Do
Xavier R. Ramirez is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Illinois. He has experience in perinatal health where he worked with pregnant women living with HIV. Xavier also has experience in crisis mental health. As a crisis worker, he has conducted psychiatric evaluations and responded to calls with emergency services. He has worked primarily in health settings with low-income, mixed-status, Spanish-speaking women and children. Xavier is an alumni of the Ronald E McNair Scholars Program, Summer Research Opportunities Program, and the Summer Predoctoral Institute
Education
Xavier graduated with a BSW in Social Work and BA in Latina/o/x Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. He then completed his AM in Social Service Administration at the University of Chicago with a certificate in Health Administration and Policy.
Research
Xavier’s research interests include health education, Latina/o/x populations, mental health, sexual and reproductive health. He is also interested in the teaching/training of social workers pertaining to crisis mental health.
