Supporting Children and Youth
In partnership, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign School of Social Work and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) have established the Office of Evidence-Based Interventions (EBI). The Office focuses on the implementation of Family First Prevention Services Act (FFPSA) Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI). The goal of the Office is to support children and youth served by DCFS Intact Family Services, Intact Family Recovery Services, and the Extended Family Support Program, as well as children in recently reunified families, adoptive families, families who obtained subsidized guardianship or are relatives and pregnant and parent youth in care and who have recently aged out.
Implementation specialists provide support to child welfare professionals on the state’s adopted EBIs. These include the following prevention and treatment approaches validated by documented scientific evidence:
- Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP)
- Motivational Interviewing (MI)
- Multisystemic Therapy (MST)
- Nurturing Parent Program (NPP)
- Positive Parenting Program (Triple P)
- Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
- Home Visiting EBIs provided in collaboration with sister agencies
