Welcome from the Dean
Welcome to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign School of Social Work.
As one of the longest serving and highly ranked social work schools in the country, we strive to educate future social work leaders and to develop socially just solutions to critical problems facing communities and their most disadvantaged members.
We are driven by a commitment to innovation in our research and teaching, and by a core value of inclusion in all the work we do. Our researchers creatively develop evidence-based solutions to real-world problems, and share cutting-edge knowledge both with our students and our many community partners. Our focus on inclusion brings the strength of learning and working together with people from all backgrounds and experiences – this stimulates more just, perceptive, and holistic strategies and outcomes.
We take great pride in the high placement rates of our graduates in diverse and impactful positions, including venues such as health and mental health, schools, child welfare, community development and advocacy, social entrepreneurship, in leadership of both government and non-profit agencies, and as researchers and teachers in leading universities. Our alums are making a difference across the world – driving social impact through strengthening families and communities and affecting lives for the better.
